| History of Peninsula Panel | ||||||
The road to Peninsula Panel began in Blissfield, Michigan where Louie Marr attended a workshop put on by Riverbend Timber Framing. On a wooded lot in Idaho he used his new timber framing skills to build his first home 23 years ago. After building post and beam homes in Idaho for 5 years, Louie and his family returned to Michigan where he took a job with Riverbend, cutting and installing timber frames. The company soon put Louie in charge of their custom home program and he spent several years traveling to build around Michigan. In 1990 Louie started his own custom home building company in Dexter, MI called L.F. Marr Inc. The company specialized in timber frame and structural insulated panel (SIP) homes. Working with his wife Barb, they spent the next 11 years building in the Dexter area. In 2001, Insulspan, a SIP manufacturer associated with Riverbend, approached L.F. Marr about becoming a panel dealer. Louie, Barb and their son Chris decided to start Peninsula Panel as a division of L.F. Marr Inc. Peninsula Panel has sold and installed SIPs throughout the Midwest, for both commercial and residential projects. While the Marr's spend most of their time designing, supplying and installing panels, Louie remains a licensed builder and does an occasional custom home or remodel project. |
